So far on "Survivor: Caramoan," the fans have not been well represented. The favorites have dominated since day one, and that continued this week. Thank goodness the promos made it pretty clear the merge is upon us. For now, though, the tribes remain hopelessly uneven, with Phillip's tribe out-muscled in every regard.
Phillip, though, thinks he's as strong as anyone out there. But after getting trounced in both challenges this week, he actually told Cochran that he threw the latter one as a strategic move. He wanted to get rid of Julia so badly that he botched it up on purpose.
"It all makes sense, we had to throw the challenge in order to get rid of one of these fans. Or else we were doomed," he explained. Only it makes no sense at all, as the fans were not only outnumbered overall, but they were outnumbered on each tribe as well. There were only two left with Phillip and Cochran.
"You can’t make up this level of delusion," Cochran said of Phillip. That’s what excites me about playing with Phillip. I think he’s actually convinced at this point that he threw the challenge.” Reality Rewind agreed, calling Phillip totally crazy.
In the end, though, Phillip got his wish -- or his plan, as he believed -- and Julia was voted out. HitFix wasn't that blown away by the strategy of the move, writing, "Julia was a non-factor and a non-entity and her elimination was ... an irrelevancy in terms of the season going forward."
Things should definitely get more interesting as the game shifts to its individual format. Do any of the fans stand a chance? Tune in to "Survivor: Caramoan" to find out, Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
