'The Shoemaker,' Short Film By Dustin Cohen, Tells The Touching Story Of A 91-Year-Old Brooklyn Shop Owner (VIDEO)

Posted: Updated:

'The Shoemaker,' a short film by New York-based photographer Dustin Cohen, tells the touching story of Frank Catalfumo, a 91-year-old veteran who's been repairing shoes in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, since the end of WWII. Catalfumo has been perfecting his craft in his cluttered store for almost seven decades, seemingly never losing his sharp sense of humor or wry smile.

"I'm not the retiring person," Mr. Catalfumo states in the video above. "You've got to keep moving in life."

Cohen explained the inspiration behind his short film in an email to the Huffington Post:

"I walked into his shop for the first time and it was like stepping back in time, and immediately I knew his story was one that needed to be shared. Frank is just an amazing man."

Watch 'The Shoemaker' above and let us know what you think of the Brooklynite's saga in the comments.
