For San Franciscans, it's never been a secret. But for the rest of the world, it's now official: Great American Music Hall is one of the best music venues in the country.

Rolling Stone included the classic San Francisco club in its feature "Venues That Rock," naming GAMH as the sixth best venue in the country.

What are the coolest music venues in America? To find out, Rolling Stone polled dozens of managers, promoters and musicians--from Miranda Lambert to Thomas Mars of Phoenix--and came up with a comprehensive report on the hottest places to catch a rock show or dance all night.

Not surprisingly, Rolling Stone noted GAMH's classic aesthetics, ("old-fashioned marquee, ceiling frescos, oak floor") hailing from the space's 1907 bordello roots.

The magazine even referenced an old SF Weekly article, claiming that the venue is haunted. (You learn something new every day.)

Also included in the list were famous American venues like New Jersey's Maxwell's, The Troubadour in West Hollywood and New York's Bowery Ballroom taking the number one spot.
