Chicago music fans averse to shelling out for the likes of Lollapalooza and Pitchfork are in luck: Free (and very good) music is returning to Millennium Park this summer.
Tuesday, the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events released the full summer schedules for their popular Downtown Sound, Loops And Variations, Made In Chicago: World Class Jazz series and Grant Park Music Festival events.
(See highlights from the lineup playing free concerts in Millennium Park this summer below.)
Among the big-name draws for the free Downtown Sound concerts, which all begin at 6:30 p.m. on Monday evenings, are Sharon Van Etten (June 3), Glen Hansard (June 10) and Dessa (with HuffPost Chicago favorite Psalm One) on July 29.
The series kicks off May 27 and runs through August 29 at the Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park.
