Pest Cities 2013: Chicago Tops Orkin's Ranking Of America's Most Pest-Infested Cities

And The City With The BIGGEST Pest Problem Is..

As if it weren't enough that Chicago takes the cake when it comes to the nation's most bed bug-infested cities, it appears remnants of that cake might just be attracting even more creepy crawlers to the Windy City.

According to a survey conducted last fall by pest control company Orkin, Chicago has the worst pest problem in the nation.

And it wasn't exactly a close contest: Chicago was specifically home to the most treatments for four of eight kinds of pests named by Orkin: ants, rodents, spiders and -- yes, of course -- bed bugs.

(Which cities have the worst pest problems? Read below.)

Home to the most cockroach and termite treatments, Los Angeles is the nation's second-most pest-infested city, according to Orkin. Atlanta came in third and claims the most mosquito treatments.

While only fifth overall, Washington, D.C. also got a shout-out for the nation's worst tick problem.

Looking to avoid a pest problem with the weather beginning to get warmer? Orkin's tips include removing excess clutter in storage areas, sealing possible entry points around doors and windows and cleaning up crumbs and spills immediately.
