Final Four school Wichita State University has 14,898 students -- and every one of them could get free pizza for a day if the Shockers win the national championship.

Pizza Hut, which was founded in Wichita, Kan., said it planned to dish out the gratis pizza on campus. But first the ninth-seeded team will have to defeat Louisville in a national semifinal on Saturday and then beat the winner of Michigan-Syracuse in Monday's title game.

Given how students tend to inhale pizza, Pizza Hut would then have a big promise to keep. Spokesman Doug Terfehr told the Wichita Eagle the chain doesn't know how much pizza it will need but that it would "bring plenty."

As noted by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Shockers are a longshot to even get to the final. In the semifinal, they started as a 10-point underdog against top-seeded Louisville.

Popular sporting events and food giveaways are not strangers. In a previous big-game promotion by a Yum! Brands chain, Taco Bell supplied free Doritos Locos Tacos for four hours nationwide after the San Francisco Giants' Angel Pagan stole a base in Game 2 of the World Series last October. The promotion was dubbed, "Steal A Base, Steal A Taco."
