Anderson Cooper On Conrad Murray's Singing: It Was 'Very Bizarre Twist'

Anderson Cooper Speaks Out About 'Bizarre Twist'

Anderson Cooper's facial expression said it all when Michael Jackson's former doctor spontaneously started singing during a recent interview. On Wednesday, Cooper explained what was running through his mind during the "very bizarre twist."

"I've never had an interview subject break out into song," the CNN host remarked in a behind-the-scenes segment with his producer.

Conrad Murray briefly serenaded Cooper with a version of Nat King Cole's "The Little Boy that Santa Claus Forgot" during his interview from prison on Tuesday. A seemingly confused Cooper glanced off-camera at one point; presumably, he was looking at his producers as if to say, "WHAT IS GOING ON?"

He later noted that Murray's lawyer had stopped her client from responding to some of Cooper's questions. "I was curious to see if she was going to try to interject to stop the singing," he said. "How would you really do that in a way that didn't come off as odd?"

He continued, "I just sat there and listened. He said that Murray's response "says something. I'm not sure what it says. I think that can be left up to viewers to decide."
