You don’t have to pay big bucks in order to file your taxes by Tax Day on Monday, April 15, 2013.

The IRS offers a service called “IRS Free File,” which allows taxpayers to file online. Those who earn less than $57,000 per year can use the IRS tax prep software to file their federal taxes for free.

In order to take advantage of the program, head over to the IRS Free File website, gather all of your tax and income information and begin following the directions.

The Free File tax software is available via a number of different tax prep services. You can file directly through the IRS website if you’re comfortable preparing your own tax returns. Keep in mind this option doesn’t cover state tax returns.
