Aaaaaand.. PLAY BALL!

After a maddening season, a miraculous playoff run and a heartbreaking World Series sweep at the merciless hands of the San Francisco Giants, the Detroit Tigers are back.

Most of them, anyway.

We've bid adieu to some of 2012's stars (Delmon Young, Quintin Barry) and welcomed some new hotshots to Comerica Park. HuffPost Detroit even sent new Tiger and nine-time Gold Glove winner Torii Hunter a helpful list of the best houses we could find for him in the city of Detroit.

Despite some sorrowful goodbyes, we're happy to see plenty of familiar faces taking the field today in the Motor City.

In one incredible new storyline, Jose Valverde was signed to a minor league contract just one day before the Tigers took to Comerica Park for their first home game. The Tigers still don't have a closer, and they're giving Papa Grande a chance to rediscover his mojo in Triple-A Toledo.

In more positive news for Tigers throwers, Justin Verlander signed a guaranteed contract extension worth as much as $202 million that will keep his arm branded with an Olde English D for seven more years. We can't figure out who scored more -- JV or Detroit baseball fans.

Can this team keep Detroit fans in the game all the way to October?
