1960s Interiors Inspired By 'Mad Men,' From House Beautiful (PHOTOS)

Our question: Why was furniture so low back then?

The sixth season of AMC's 'Mad Men' premieres tonight. But besides looking forward to getting a glimpse of Don Draper in his retro bathing suit on the beaches of Hawaii, we're most excited about seeing the set designs for the new episodes, which take place during the late '60s. It could be stylish (see: Don and Megan's season 5 apartment, or it could be an avocado-hued mess (like later episodes of 'Bewitched'). Nonetheless, we've been counting down the days since last year.

To whet your appetite for all things 'Mad Men,' House Beautiful has shared photos from past issues from that era. These cool interiors feature deep hues, shag carpets and cool low-to-the-floor furniture. Maybe the late '60s weren't as ugly as we feared.
