Avril Lavigne and Nickleback frontman Chad Kroeger have been engaged since August 2012, and they're finally dishing on the proposal and their upcoming wedding.
The musicians revealed on "On Air With Ryan Seacrest" Tuesday that Kroeger popped the question just one month after they began dating (they met while working on Lavigne's new album). He proposed by taking a photo of himself with the engagement ring and sneaking it into a scrapbook Lavigne kept at the recording studio, and used stickers to spell out, "Will you marry me?"
"It was really romantic. It kind of made sense, we met making the record at Henson Studios and he got down on one knee in the live room," Lavigne said.
The couple revealed that they are currently in the midst of wedding planning, and Lavigne said the event will be "smaller," but "quite spectacular."
"There's a theme to it, and we're going pretty big. Chad doesn't even know everything," Lavigne said.
Of course, they plan on playing one of their songs at the wedding, and Lavigne said she wants to wrap the sheet music from one of their songs around the cake.
Kroeger said he and Lavigne developed feelings for each other while singing love songs together.
"We started dating and the next day he's like, 'You know, I'm going to marry you.' And I said, 'I know.' It was just one of those things we knew," Lavigne said.
