George The Elderly Dachshund Loves Owner's Ramp Carpentry Project (PHOTOS)

Well, isn't this just adorable?

A Redditor using the name turbo_loadstone posted pictures Monday of a series of rudimentary ramps he constructed for his 13-year-old dachshund, George.

In the thread, turbo_loadstone describes himself as a "sh***y carpenter," but his "old dog has tiny legs and can't jump like he used to."

George, who turns 14 in August, slipped a disc in his back when he was four and had to have surgery on his spine.

In order to stop George from re-injuring himself, the Redditor built ramps that help the dachshund navigate everything from the bedroom to the doggie door.

"The vet told me it's common in dachshunds from jumping up on things so I knew that had to stop," turbo_loadstone wrote. "He picked up using the ramps in no time. I lured him with treats to use them instead of jumping."

Other commenters also shared their own stories of homemade ramps and staircases.

"It took my dog a few weeks to learn how to use her stairs to get on our bed," iamnotchris wrote. "She still wakes us up when she wants to get up in the middle of the night if there is no light on."

PetMD notes that dachshunds are particularly prone to back problems and slipped discs, which can cause muscle spasms, pain and weakness in the bad legs, and loss of bladder control.
