"Scandal" can soon expect a visit from Captain Jack Harkness himself, John Barrowman, The Huffington Post has confirmed.

Creator Shonda Rhimes tweeted the news on Tuesday evening, revealing herself to be a fellow "Torchwood" fan:

John Barrowman is here working at today. Life is good.

A spokesperson for ABC confirmed the news of Barrowman's appearance but declined to offer details on his role, except to say that he would appear in the episode scheduled to air on May 9.

Barrowman is currently recurring on The CW's "Arrow" as Malcolm Merlyn/The Dark Archer, the nefarious nemesis to the show's titular hero. He's the latest in a long line of notable guest stars for "Scandal" Season 2, including recurring favorite Scott Foley as the enigmatic Jake Ballard, and -- as Rhimes recently announced -- "Fringe" star Jasika Nicole, who will appear in the April 25 episode.
