Tennessee Man Joe Ellis Finds $3800 In A Dumpster And Turns It In (VIDEO)

WATCH: This Tennessee Man Discovered Almost $4K And Decided To Make Someone's Day

One Tennessee man gave a stranger an unexpected but very pleasant surprise.

On Saturday night, Joe Ellis of Murfreesboro, Tenn., was searching a local Speedy Mart's dumpster for cans to make a little extra money. Instead, he discovered a large sum of cash -- several hundred dollar bills and three deposit slips.

But rather than pocketing the find, he brought it to the Speedy Mart's managers who counted $3,800 in total.

The gas station's managers called the police who helped track down the owner of the money. Ellis told ABC the man had accidentally thrown the cash out while clearing his car. The money was returned to him on Monday.

The grateful owner thanked Ellis with $400 for his kindness.

"I can tell he's a trustworthy person you know, he's a nice guy," Speedy Mart manager Maulik Patel told ABC.

Ellis' good deed comes just weeks after two cash-strapped Oregon siblings came across a lost deposit and put the needs of strangers before their own.
