The Blackhawks will reportedly face off against the Pittsburgh Penguins in outdoors in Chicago next March.
A source confirmed to the Chicago Tribune that the NHL is just about ready to formally announce their plans for the Hawks and Penguins to play at Soldier Field on March 1, 2014 -- one of six outdoor NHL games slated to be held early next year.
According to the Comcast Sportsnet blog, TSN's Darren Dreger first got the scoop that the NHL will launch the outdoor series with a Detroit-Toronto matchup at the University of Michigan's "Big House" on New Year's Day.

The Blackhawks have yet to confirm the reports, but if they turn out to be true, this will mark the second time that the Hawks host an outdoor game in the team's history. In 2009, Wrigley Field played host to the 2009 NHL Winter Classic between the Hawks and the Red Wings, NBC Chicago notes.
