WASHINGTON -- Have you ever wanted to pretend you lived in on large estate during the colonial period? Have you dreamed of a life on the water, working as an oysterman aboard a skipjack?
If so, you'll want to make your way to Maryland during the annual Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage, which begins this Saturday, April 20, in Anne Arundel County. For five consecutive weekends, more than 50 historic properties welcome visitors for guided tours.

Maryland House and Garden Pilgrimage
Tour highlights include Annapolis' Wardour community, which the Baltimore Sun called "a little bit of Mayberry in Maryland," and Baltimore's Guilford neighborhood, home to tulip-rich Sherwood Gardens.
Since its inception in 1930, the Pilgrimage has raised more than $1 million to renovate and restore architecturally significant buildings in Maryland.
While we can't recommend that you show up in period garb, we also wouldn't discourage it. There's nothing quite like Maryland in May with a few petticoats under your skirt.
