Earth Day 2013: Hug A Tree Wearing These!

Hooray, it's Earth Day! Which means it's the perfect time to raise the roof in celebration of another day on God's green earth, and give Mother Nature a high five for dealing with our crazy carbon footprint (we're working on that). And while you take time to hug a tree today, why not plant one as well?

That's just what one of our favorite jewelry designers, Kevia Jeffrey-West, is helping us do through her eponymous line of sustainable baubles.

The Oregon-based designer is continuing her program of donating a new tree to be planted in either an urban or wilderness area in the U.S. with the purchase of a horn style piece from the Nouveau collection. So far, over 1,300 tress have been planted.

In addition, the brand has launched the Ecologica collection to fete Earth Day 2013. The capsule collection pays homage to nature's most beautiful, but sadly endangered, creatures--the European Stag Beetle, American Burying Beetle, Spotted Owl, Swallowtail Butterfly, and the Doloff Spider. Fifteen percent of the proceeds from the sale of each stunning handcrafted piece will go to various nature conservation and restoration initiatives.

The collection ranges from $60-$300 and will begin to roll out on the Kevia website beginning on Earth Day, April 22.

Check out all the designs from Kevia's Ecologica collection and a few pieces from the Nouveau line in the slideshow below.
