'Grey's Anatomy' Finale Will Be Set During A Superstorm

'Grey's Anatomy' Fans, 'Brace Yourselves'

"Grey's Anatomy" fans should brace themselves for the finale, according to showrunner Shonda Rhimes.

TV Guide has revealed that a superstorm will hit Grey Sloan Memorial in the penultimate episode, titled "Readiness Is All," and will carry into the Season 9 finale, titled "Perfect Storm," according to TV Guide.

"The superstorm will affect the recently renamed hospital and cause its staff to go into crisis mode in an hour that is being described as very intense with a lot of 'major' things changing for the characters in the final two episodes of the season," The Hollywood Reporter writes of the "Grey's Anatomy" finale.

Chandra Wilson, who plays Dr. Bailey on the ABC series, teased the episode to Entertainment Weekly, "There’s just a lot of things that are going on in the hospital at the same time. So there’s an urgency in the next few episodes, as well, just leading into one of our infamous season finales."

Rhimes has changed her tune about the "Grey's Anatomy" finale over the course of the last few months. In February, she told TVLine, "I have a general idea of what the finale is going to be, but it’s been evolving as the season progresses ... At this moment in time, I would not consider it to be a catastrophe.”

In the past, "Grey's Anatomy" has seen finales with plane crashes and hospital shootings, so it's no surprise things eventually swung toward disaster.

Towards the end of March, Rhimes began hinting that something big was coming in the "Grey's Anatomy" finale.
