Since today marks the celebration of what would have been Ella Fitzgerald’s 96th birthday Google has decided to pay homage to the “Queen of Jazz.”

The search engine giant is currently featuring Fitzgerald on its homepage as the latest “Google Doodle” logo.

Born on April 25, 1917 the iconic singer-actress made her singing debut in 1934 at the world famous Apollo Theater and went on to record professionally for over 50 years, nailing memorable duets alongside the likes of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington, and Dizzy Gillespie to name a few.

Also known as the “First Lady of Song,” the 13-time Grammy Award-winner released her first recording "Love and Kisses" on the Decca label in 1935. Her 1938 version of the nursery rhyme, "A-Tisket, A-Tasket" was a hit that helped catapult her to stardom.

According to the New York Times, the Virginia native's1945 recording "Flying Home" was "one the most influential vocal jazz records of the decade." The album utilized her innovative "scat" technique.
