DETROIT, MI - Just over a year ago, Detroit Public Schools Emergency Manager Roy Roberts counted Maybury Elementary School in Southwest Detroit among the schools that would be permanently closed and listed as real estate.

Parents of the children who attend the school were nonplussed, and said as much to DPS officials.
