The mockumentary format came to "Hawaii Five-0" this week with Aisha Tyler ("The Talk") taking center stage as Savannah Walker, a talk show host embedded with the Five-0 team for a special episode of her show. She found herself at the heart of the case when she unwittingly pulled the alleged killer aside for an interview.
She thought she was just going to chat with a random police officer, but he'd disguised himself as one. Luckily, McGarrett picked up on it right away. "Hey, guys! It’s Wo Fat!” he shouted, putting Savannah in the middle of harms way as gunfire rang out.
Ever the professional, though, after diving behind a car, Savannah was all business: "Did you get that? Please tell me you got that," she pleaded with her cameraman.
TV Fanatic thought Tyler was the perfect blend of Oprah Winfrey and Gayle Weathers from the "Scream" series in a spot that mixed true dramatic chops with plenty of laughs.
Tyler took to Twitter to thank the team at "Hawaii Five-0" for inviting her, adding that she had "so many incredibly kind/supportive words” for them.
The drama continues on "Hawaii Five-0" every Monday at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
TV Replay scours the vast television landscape to find the most interesting, amusing, and, on a good day, amazing moments, and delivers them right to your browser.
