Chicago police are currently working to identify and bring to justice a man suspected of dragging a 22-year-old woman from a bus shelter on Chicago's North Side and sexually assaulting her in a nearby alley in broad daylight.

The attack began at 2 p.m. Thursday at a bus shelter at the busy intersection of Clark Street and Devon Avenue in the city's Edgewater neighborhood, according to WGN.

According to the woman, the attacker sat next to her at the bus shelter before grabbing her by the throat and forcing her into an alley, ABC Chicago reports. He reportedly took her cell phone and credit card before he fled the scene and she went to an area hospital.

The assault reportedly took place in the 1500 block of West Highland Avenue, not far from the Loyola University Chicago campus. NBC Chicago reports the campus has issued a warning for its students to be alert of their surroundings and to refrain from walking around wearing headphones.

The suspect is described by police as black, 35-40 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and about 300 pounds. Anyone with information is being urged to contact detectives at 312-744-8261.
