Avril Lavigne plays the part of Peter Pan on Top-40 radio this summer with the hand-waving anthem "Here's To Never Growing Up." The song already sounds like a sibling of Lavigne's first hit, "Complicated," and its new video does nothing to dissuade those comparisons. As Vulture notes with some visual evidence, "Here's To Never Growing Up" features some callbacks to "Complicated."
Beyond that, though, it's basically business as usual for Avril, whose new song is basically one long hook designed for optimal sing-along potential. Here's part of the lyrical goodness:
"We'll be running down the street, yelling kiss my ... / I'm like, 'Yeah whatever, we're saluting like that' / When the sun's going down, we'll be raising our cups / Singing here's to never growing up."
