Why Men Cheat: Iyanla Vanzant Confronts A Husband Who Had An Affair (VIDEO)

Posted: Updated:

Tiffany and Nick, a couple from Tennessee, have been married for five years, but say that they are in a sexless marriage. When Iyanla Vanzant visits the troubled couple, they admit to sometimes going a full year without being intimate. The wedge between Tiffany and Nick grows each day, driving them farther away from each other -- and, in Nick's case, into the arms of someone else.

He admits to having cheated on his wife, a fact that Iyanla wants to explore in this clip from "Iyanla: Fix My Life." She begins by meeting with Nick privately and uses the analogy of a circus tiger to illustrate how learned behavior can transform a once-powerful creature into a completely different being. "When the tiger forgets who he is, he's going to be intimidated by a chair," Iyanla says to Nick. "You're being intimidated by a chair, boo. Do you want the responsibility of getting out of the corner and standing in your majesty and strutting your stuff?"

When Nick responds that he does, Iyanla switches gears. "Were you strutting your stuff when you had that affair?" she asks him.

"Yeah," Nick admits. "I wanted to express myself and not get hassled for it."

"What did she offer you that your wife doesn't?" Iyanla asks.

"She listened to what I said," Nick answers without hesitation. "Made me feel important. Made me feel like I was a man."

Nick's affair isn't the only factor in this sexless marriage. To find out what else is really going on, watch "Iyanla: Fix My Life" on Saturday, May 11, at 9 p.m. ET on OWN.
