The cast for Season 3 of "American Horror Story" continues to grow: Patti LuPone and Angela Bassett join the witch-centric season of the FX series, titled "Coven."
Ryan Murphy, the co-creator of "American Horror Story," tweeted the news about LuPone and Bassett joining the cast this weekend.

No word yet on who Lupone and Bassett will be playing on "American Horror Story: Coven," but the Tony winner and Oscar nominee respectively join a very impressive cast. In addition to "American Horror Story" repeat players Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Taissa Farmiga, Lily Rabe and Frances Conroy, "Coven" adds Oscar winner Kathy Bates, who will play Lange's character's best friend who becomes her worst enemy and "Precious" star Gabourey Sidibe.
"American Horror Story: Coven" is set to begin production in July in New Orleans. "I'm excited. I think it's gonna be really scary -- much scarier than last season -- and it's gonna be fun," Peters said about the new season. "It's going to be really fun to shoot. I'm recharged and ready to go this round."
