We all know how much Latin America embraces American music. But lately it’s Italy’s hitmakers than seem to be soaring up the Spanish charts, particularly the tenors of Il Volo.
Made up Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble, the under-20 trio have scored some huge Spanish hits. And their presence was beefed up even more with a riveting rendition of Jose Jose’s “El Triste” at last month’s Latin Billboard Awards.
Of course, it doesn’t hurt that all three guys are easy on the eyes.
“We’ve benefited greatly from their past tour,” Il Volo record exec Luis Estrada said. “They reached an upscale Latin market that was mostly an adult market, but included the daughters of those adults.”
And Piero, Ignazio and Giancula aren’t slowing their Spanish momentum anytime soon. The guys have already recorded a studio version of “El Triste” and are shooting a concert special in Miami this fall.
