Quarterback Stabbing Arrest: Michael Creed Charged With Assaulting University Of Delaware QB

Posted: Updated:

An arrest in a quarterback stabbing case was made Monday after police identified 25-year-old Michael Creed as the man who argued with a University of Delaware football player early Sunday morning.

Though UD has yet to confirm the name of the injured player, sources close to the football team identified the victim as 22-year-old Trevor Sasek, according to Delaware Online. Newark, Del., Mayor Vance A. Funk III later confirmed the name to the Newark Post Online.

Creed is accused of stabbing the UD student several times in the chest and abdomen following a confrontation around 1:20 a.m. in a parking lot near the Newark campus.

While Creed fled the scene, Sasek was transported to a local hospital by a private vehicle before police arrived, ABC affiliate WPVI notes. He is currently in stable condition.

According to a statement released by the university, police were able to identify Creed using surveillance cameras in the lot. Authorities were then able to track down the suspect through an associated vehicle.

Creed is charged with first-degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon.
