Students in the Buena Vista School District could be back in class by the end of this week after the school board voted Tuesday night to approve a deficit-elimination plan.

District Superintendent Deborah Hunter-Harvill said she hopes state Superintendent Mike Flanagan will sign off on the plan today, a move that would release state aid to the small district near Saginaw. Classes have been canceled since May 3 because the district ran out of money.
