Captain Sully's First Three Thoughts After Bird Strike (VIDEO)

How did Captain Sully Sullenberger stay so calm during the emergency landing of Flight 1549 on the Hudson River? When he joined me on Mondays With Marlo, Captain Sully shared his first three thoughts after the bird strike -- he remembers them as if it were yesterday. Here is what they were:

  1. This can't be happening.
  2. This doesn't happen to me. I've never had something like this happen before -- all of my flights are more or less routine.
  3. Realization that this flight, unlike all the others, would probably not end on the runway with the airplane undamaged.
