T. M. Luhrmann Defends The Health Benefits Of Faith In Loving God (VIDEO)

WATCH: Professor Defends Research Showing Health Benefits Of Church

T.M. Luhrmann wrote an op-ed for the New York Times last month titled The Benefits of Church in which she asserted that going to church can add two or three years to one's life.

Speaking with Huffpost Live host Nancy Redd, the Stanford professor explained that as part of her work she wondered what it was exactly that made going to church such a healthy prospect.

In the above video, Professor Luhrmann explained that it was not only a belief in God that was important, but the belief in a loving, personal God that you 'carry with you and who is always looking after you' that's good for you.'

Conversely, if a person believes in a punitive God it can lead to mental health problems.
