Reporter Lance West Cries Covering Moore Tornado

The destruction left behind in Moore, Oklahoma brought reporter Lance West to tears on Monday.

A tornado ripped through the area, killing at least 24 people according to officials. The tornado directly hit two elementary schools, trapping children under rubble.

West, an Emmy-winning reporter for KFOR, was on the ground in Moore, and confirmed for anchors back in the studio via phone that there had been children inside Plaza Towers Elementary School when the tornado hit.

He said he was heading to the school as fast as he could, and that all he could see was "absolute chaos" in Moore. "I've never seen anything like this in my 18 years covering tornadoes here in Oklahoma City. This is without question the most horrific — I've never seen..." he said, before breaking down.
