Perhaps it's time to cry uncle? According to Deadline.com, Tom Cruise won't star in the Warner Bros. reboot of "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." because of scheduling conflicts with "Mission: Impossible 5." Cruise was first attached to "U.N.C.L.E." back in March.
Cruise becomes just the latest high profile star to flirt with "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." before leaving it by the wayside. The project, an adaptation of the cult television series that ran from 1964 through 1968, was first set up in November of 2010 as a Steven Soderbergh film with George Clooney in the starring role. That didn't last long, unfortunately, as Clooney was forced to exit the film in August of 2010 after suffering a back injury. Soderbergh searched far and wide for a replacement -- names tossed around included Johnny Depp, Channing Tatum, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Gosling and Michael Fassbender -- before leaving himself in November of 2011. Warner Bros. replaced Soderbergh with Guy Ritchie just one month later.
In addition to Cruise, "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." also stars Armie Hammer. Deadline.com notes that the "Social Network" star is still attached to the film.
