Allen West: 'No Doubt' I'll Get Back Into Politics In 2016 (AUDIO)

Former Rep. Allen West (R-Fl.) assured voters he's not disappearing from the world of politics anytime soon.

West, who was defeated in November 2012 by Democrat Patrick Murphy, said there was "no doubt" he'd re-enter politics during a Friday interview on "The Tammy Bruce Show."

"There are so many things I can do right now that can really help us going forward to the midterm elections. It’s not about me; it’s about the team, it’s about our country and that’s what I’m focused on primarily," West said. "So after the midterm election cycle we’ll look into getting back into the political framework in 2016. There’s no doubt about it."

When Bruce asked West if he was "still open to moving back in the political arena directly," West said that was "absolutely" an option for 2016.

"I’m not packing up and taking my toys and going away," West said. "But it’s once again something that you have to pray about and make sure God blesses it and you have to talk to the family, but right now they will be very supportive of doing something in that out-year cycle of 2016."

Gov. Rick Scott (R) recently said West would be a "great" pick to take over the position of Florida's lieutenant governor, an office vacated when former Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll resigned in March. Carroll resigned after she was interviewed as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged widespread gambling ring.
