WATCH: Griner Already Sets WNBA Record

It took just one game for Brittney Griner to dunk her way into the WNBA record books.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft, Griner made her professional debut on Monday when her Phoenix Mercury hosted the Chicago Sky. The 6' 8" center out of Baylor scored 17 points in her first appearance with the Mercury and became the first player in WNBA history to dunk twice during a single game. According to ESPN Stats & Info, Griner has now accounted for two of the five in-game, regular-season dunks in WNBA history.

Both of Griner's dunks came in the fourth quarter as the Mercury attempted to mount a late comeback. The first was a one-handed slam, finishing a pick-and-roll play with Charde Houston. It was followed by a second slam just six minutes later. Griner scooped up a Sky turnover and then rose up for a two-handed dunk that drew a roar from the crowd.

Elena Delle Donne, the No. 2 overall pick of the 2013 draft, finished with 22 points and eight rebounds as Chicago went on to win 102-80.

"Its always nice to get the crowd going but hopefully next time we get the win," Griner told reporters after the game, via the official Twitter account of the WNBA.

During the 2013 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, Griner set another slam dunk record, throwing down a trio of dunks against Florida State in Baylor's second-round win. Based on her WNBA debut, the dunks will keep coming at a record-setting pace at the next level.
