What happens when the world of a wealthy Savannah, Ga., couple collides with the families of their hired help? Sex, deceit, betrayal and buried secrets shoot to the surface. This is what's in store for the wildly successful Cryers and the financially struggling Youngs in Tyler Perry's new drama, "The Haves And The Have Nots."
At the center of the drama is Candace Young, a manipulative opportunist who will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Candace is the estranged daughter of the Cryers' maid Hanna Young -- and also turns out to be the well-paid mistress of the powerful judge Jim Cryer. But when Candace learns that the man who has been paying her for sex is the same man who employs her mother and is running for governor, Candace becomes the one with all the power.
Candace is played by actress Tika Sumpter, who describes her character as "a manipulative, ambitious, charming" individual. In the video, Tika makes a clear prediction for how Candace will be received. "I think the audience is going to not either love her or hate her; I think they're going to love her and hate her at the same time," Tika says.
Candace's family members -- the "have nots" -- also have their own stories and agendas. Meet the rest of the working class characters in the video, and tune in to the premiere of "The Haves and the Have Nots" tonight, May 28, at 9 p.m. ET on OWN.
