Cindy Gallop Of MakeLoveNotPorn.tv: 'It's Not That Porn Degrades Women, It's That Business Degrades Porn'

Cindy Gallop thinks we think about porn all wrong. She appeared on HuffPost Live on Thursday to chat about her site, MakeLoveNotPorn.tv, which seeks to depict the "real world sex" that is often absent from mainstream pornography and encourage an open conversation about sex.

"The headline is 'it's not that porn degrades women, it's that business degrades porn,'" Gallop told co-hosts Alicia Menendez and Marc Lamont Hill. She found MakeLoveNotPorn.tv shortly after a heralded 2009 TEDTalk on sexuality.

"Very ironically one of the things that creates problems is the fact that they're not allowed to do business under the same conditions as everyone else," Gallop continued.

In an earlier interview with HuffPost's Betsy Isaacson, Gallop described the difficulty of finding funding for a porn site. "I have an idea enabled by technology that’s designed to disrupt a sector worth billions of dollars, that’s both socially beneficial and potentially very, very financially lucrative," she said. "But because that sector is porn, and the social benefit is sexuality, no VC wanted to come near me."
