Nicki Minaj was nothing but candid in a sit down interview with the Hot 97 radio personality who knocked her famed song "Starships" at the radio station's 2012 Summer Jam concert.
In introducing the concert's opening act, Peter Rosenberg called out, "I know there are some chicks in here waiting to sing along with 'Starships' later. I'm not talking to y'all now. F--k that bulls--t." Much to the morning show DJ's surprise, both Minaj and Lil Wayne promptly pulled out of the concert.
The two shared some words on Twitter, preempting a yearlong feud.
On , the 30-year-old "Pink Friday" rapper sat down with DJ Peter Rosenberg and had a heart to heart. Minaj apologized for pulling out of the show at her fans' expense, but wasn't giving into Rosenberg: "I just don't know your resume. I never found you funny, I never found you entertaining, I never found you smart. I just found you annoying."
In a candid response, Rosenberg defended his "resume" and said, "I busted my ass to get here." He continued, "I generally love hip-hop, so I speak out about things I don't like. So when an artist who I consider to be as important a hip-hop artist as there is in the game today made a record that I deem to be something -- and I understand we have different opinions about it -- that I viewed as not good for hip-hop, it wasn't something that I was trying to go at you personally about."
Minaj, while admitting that she had never seen or heard video or audio of Rosenberg's original comments, dismissed the situation, saying, "I am not your typical rapper. I am not your typical person .... So I understand when I step out and do a pop song, it's like damn n-g, really. A lot of people are disappointed by that, and I totally get it .... But I wanted to experiment."
While she certainly didn't back down, Minaj just might be performing at Summer Jam 2013 this Sunday (June 2).
