Mike Adams Stabbed: Steelers Say OT Hospitalized After Apparent Robbery Attempt

Steelers offensive tackle Mike Adams was stabbed in an apparent robbery attempt early on Saturday morning, according to a statement on team's official website. Adams was hospitalized after the incident on Pittsburgh’s South Side.

“We are aware of the situation regarding Mike Adams being stabbed earlier this morning,” Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert said, via “We are in direct communication with both Mike and his family. Mike is expected to make a full recovery."

Adams tweeted later on Saturday that he would be okay.

According to Aditi Kinkhabwala of the NFL Network, Adams' agent said that the 23-year-old had surgery after getting stabbed in the stomach. Kinkhabwala also reported that no vital organs were affected.

Adams was selected by the Steelers in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He played in 10 games for Pittsburgh last season and started in six of them.
