'Coal 101,' Sierra Club Video, Targets Controversial Energy Source

The Sierra Club has released a startling video to raise awareness about the effects of coal on both human health and the environment.

"Coal 101: What's Wrong with Coal," breaks down the the fossil fuel's impact throughout its life cycle, which can include mountaintop removal during mining and harmful emissions while burning.

There are now more solar workers in the U.S. than coal miners, according to an April report released by The Solar Foundation. The Sierra Club reports that 145 coal-powered energy plants have been shuttered in the U.S., but 377 are still in operation.
