Everyone's a sucker for a good foul ball or home run catch. We've seen fans make catches in myriad different and interesting ways, be it while cradling an infant or cradling a beer. A man at PETCO Park on Monday night, however, gave us a failed attempt for the blooper reels.
After a Jason Heyward home run during the Padres-Braves game, a spectator chased the ball with a full-on, head-first belly flop that took him over the railing and into the nearby shrubbery.
Unfortunately, in his rush to make such a theatrical dive, the fan neglected to notice that simply bending down and picking up the ball would have secured him the souvenir much more easily.
We can't criticize the fan's passion, but the execution leaves much to be desired.
