Scarlett Johansson & Hillary Clinton: Actress Not In Running For 'Rodham' Role According To Reps

No Hillary Role For Scarlett

The short list of actresses who could play former Secretary of State and First Lady Hillary Clinton has just narrowed even further. News broke Tuesday evening that Carey Mulligan was passing on the role in "Rodham," and now another actress has distanced herself from the part.

Scarlett Johansson, who was listed as one of the early front-runners to play the political bigwig, has no involvement in the project.

"Scarlett has never been asked to do this film," a representative for the actress told HuffPost Entertainment. "She hasn't been approached about it nor seen a script. It's a total fabrication."

Johansson and Mulligan aren't the only two actresses who won't play Clinton in the new film. Jessica Chastain was rumored for the part, but shot down that discussion as pure speculation. Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence was also reportedly mentioned as a possibility for the project as well.

Reese Witherspoon and Amanda Seyfried were the other names associated with "Rodham" in the original report about the casting search, but neither actress has commented on the possibility of appearing in the film. James Ponsoldt will direct "Rodham" from a script by Young Il Kim.
