Shahrukh Khan and Gauri Khan are expecting a baby! The Bollywood power couple will be welcoming a baby boy via a surrogate, according to reports from Dawn and Zoom TV, though the prospective parents have yet to make a statement about their exciting news.
According to a source close to the family, it was Gauri's decision to have a child through surrogacy, and the Khans apparently consulted the same doctor that Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao went to when their baby Azad was born via surrogate. The Khans currently have two teenage kids, Aryan, 15, and Suhana, 13, and they look forward to their new arrival.
Shahrukh Khan is one of Bollywood's biggest stars, known for blockbusters like "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge," "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai," "Dil Se," and "Devdas," to name but a few. His fan following numbers in the billions, and it's estimated that one-third of the world's population knows his name. He is currently wrapping up shooting for "Chennai Express," a romantic comedy by Rohit Shetty.
Khan is more than just a movie star, however, as he works hard on issues of social justice and equality. His humanitarian efforts include opening a children's ward at a Mumbai hospital, serving on the board of India's Make-A-Wish Foundation, adopting five villages and providing them with solar power through the Light A Billion Lives program, and countless other projects.
For his activism, he was honored last year by Yale University, which presented him with the Chubb Fellow Award for leadership, an accolade previously received by big names like Walter Cronkite, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. Despite his global fame the actor remains humble, telling his Yale audience, "I want to increase education for women, provide toilets -- simple things... I just want to do good stuff."
Congratulations, SRK and Gauri!
