Jake Tapper Makes Appearance On 'All My Children' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Jake Tapper Tries Something Very Different

Jake Tapper has a new gig to add to his resume: soap opera actor.

The CNN host will make a guest appearance on "All My Children," playing —what else? — an investigative reporter named Spencer Phillips. He previewed a clip of his cameo on his CNN show "The Lead" during a segment about the revival of canceled daytime soaps.

"It was going to be a stretch playing a pushy reporter, but I was up for the challenge," Tapper joked. He will appear on the August 19 episode.

ABC canceled "All My Children," along with "One Life To Live," in 2011. The shows returned earlier this year, and now air online.
