'MasterChef' Contestant Slices Off A Chunk Of Finger

Things took a bloody turn on "MasterChef." The contestants headed to the set of "Glee" where they were tasked with cooking for over one hundred members of the hit show's cast and crew. It was a daunting task to be sure, but at least they got to spend some time with famous people.

Jane Lynch stepped in and divided the contestants into two teams. She named one team the "beauties" and the other the "beasts." But it was one of the "beauties," Jessie, who had a beastly injury while slicing potatoes.

“I just put my hand right through the mandolin," she said. A chunk of her finger was immediately sliced off.

“I look down, and I just see the blood coming out. It’s just puddling blood, coming out everywhere," Jessie recalled later. She thougth she might pass out after seeing the bit of her finger that she'd cut off. She had to sit out of the competition for a while, but she returned in time to help her team win the challenge.

Entertainment Weekly said that Jessie slicing off a chunk of her finger was one of the nastiest things they've ever seen on TV. Season 3 champion Christine Ha, who's recapping the show for TV Guide, congratulated Jessie and her teammates for winning a literally bloody battle.

This week saw the journey end for two contestants, as both Bime and Howard left the show. "MasterChef" continues on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
