Matt Smith's Message To 'Doctor Who' Fans From Detroit (VIDEO)

The Doctor's Thank You To Fans

Although Matt Smith is saying goodbye to "Doctor Who," he'll always be loyal to his fans, as he proves in the video above with a "Love Actually"-like message.

In the video above, The Doctor delivered a silent thank you message to fans from "'Doctor Who' Land" with multiple pieces of paper while filming his new movie "How to Catch a Monster" in Detroit. Talk about a grand gesture!

Smith announced he would be leaving the series earlier this month, and executive producer Steven Moffat had nothing but praise for the actor.

"[G]reat actors always know when it's time for the curtain call, so this Christmas prepare for your hearts to break, as we say goodbye to number Eleven. Thank you Matt -- bow ties were never cooler," he said. "Of course, this isn't the end of the story, because now the search begins. Somewhere out there right now -- all unknowing, just going about their business -- is someone who's about to become the Doctor. A life is going to change, and 'Doctor Who' will be born all over again! After 50 years, that's still so exciting!"
