Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin's photographs land somewhere between a glossy magazine editorial and a surreal hallucination in which all your favorite stars are friends with you.

"Sometimes our work that’s been published as an advertising campaign ends up on the walls of a museum," Lamsweerde told T Magazine. Whether this statement strikes you as thrilling or awful, it's certainly emblematic of the quickly blurring genres of art and advertising in galleries across the world.

In the photos below, the visionary duo captures contemporary icons who similarly bridge the gap between the red carpet and museum walls, including art savvy A-listers like Lady Gaga and Tilda Swinton. This intoxicating cocktail of commercialism, camp and the avant-garde is going on display next month at Gagosian Gallery in the heart of Beverly Hills.
