On Tuesday afternoon, President Obama gave a speech that could very well land in the annals of climate change history.

He spoke at Georgetown University in the middle of a sweltering summer day, sweat dripping down his face and loud planes buzzing overhead, ironically drowning out Obama's demands to lower greenhouse gases and carbon emissions.

Although the speech was dense with facts and legislative promises, Obama remained characteristically poetic and inspirational.

"I refuse to condemn your generation and future generations to a planet that’s beyond fixing," he pledged. "We will be judged as a people, and as a society, and as a country on where we go from here."
