Juan Williams appeared on Sean Hannity's Tuesday night show and clashed with the Fox News host over the Supreme Court's ruling on the Voting Rights Act.
Earlier that day, the Supreme Court ruled that a key part of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was outdated. The decision will allow nine states, mostly in the south, to change their election laws without federal approval.
Hannity described the ruling as "common sense," to which Williams disagreed.
"No, it's not outdated ... The fact is that just in the last election, the preclearance provision of the Voting Rights Act was used by the federal government to go into Texas and say the way the state had been gerrymandering congressional districts depressed the Latino vote," Williams said.
Hannity argued that times were different now. He yelled, "The world has changed ... join us!" When Williams mentioned how the preclearance provision was still needed to prevent voter suppression, The Fox News host brought up the New Black Panther Party and how two members stood outside a polling place on Election Day in 2008.
"You think that's threatening to you?" Williams asked. "Sean, let me just tell you. It was a black neighborhood. No one even noticed the guy ... By the way, he was convicted and told not to do that again!"
