Katharine Hepburn Compares Buying Furniture To Acting, Gives Strangely Good Advice (VIDEO)

Surprisingly, there's some good advice here.

Katharine Hepburn was a smart, bold, brassy and fearless woman. She swam in the Long Island Sound daily, even in the winter. When a hurricane swept her family home away, she combed the beach the next morning, panning for her mother's silver, as if the situation was a spoiled picnic. When she was labeled "Box Office Poison," she kept on acting.

We can learn plenty from her, especially about the power of rolling with the punches and not dwelling on the negative. But we can also learn from her when it comes to...furniture?

Yep. In this clip from one of my favorite programs, The Dick Cavett Show, watch as she compares acting to buying furniture and finishes with some strangely apt advice.

She also says that Cavett's furniture buying habit is "stupid."

Katharine Hepburn died 10 years ago on June 29th. Here's a look at the more glamorous side of her life.
