That looked like it hurt.
Boxer Matthew Macklin was on the wrong end of a brutal body blow during a boxing match on Saturday night. It dropped Macklin to the canvas, ending the fight. German middleweight Gennady Golovkin delivered that punishing left-handed shot, improving his record to 27-0 and retaining his WBA and IBO titles.
"It was a great shot he landed," Macklin said after the fight at Foxwoods, via The Associated Press. "I tip my hat to him. He's a great champion. He has plenty of clubbing, solid power, and you can feel the weight of every punch he throws."
Macklin certainly seemed to feel that power on this crushing shot in the third round. The look of agony on his face was intense enough to make anyone watching feel that power, too.

Golovkin described the decisive blow as a "lucky punch" after the fight, according to USA Today. Of course, the 24 fighters who have been knocked out by Golovkin might not think that luck had anything to do with it.
